CRABCAKE: Nick’s Story; From Homeless and Addicted to a Bright Future in Annapolis (May 2017)
This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it’s a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20. In any event, enjoy your Maryland Crabcake!
Nick had the “cool mom” who let him drink beers with her. And then it was smoking a joint…popping some pills. Eventually Nick turned to heroin. Nick lived on the streets of Annapolis, sleeping in the Market House rest room if he was lucky enough to beat the last homeless man into the bathroom. With heroin, Nick says that 1 is too many and 1000 is not enough.
This is Nick’s story.
We spoke with Nick at a fundraiser for Samaritan House this morning at Chevys Fresh Mex in Annapolis, Maryland. Samaritan House provides beds and treatment for men in recovery. Nick is a success story for this 40+ year old organization that is seeing unprecedented strains as the nation tries to cope with an opioid epidemic!
