Today, we speak with Sandy Brown who is the Commissioner for Major League Lacrosse. He was in town to get a proclamation from Mayor Buckley in advance of the MLL All-Star Game which will be taking place on Saturday, July 27th at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Have a listen as we talk about his initiatives in the league, the gameday experience, the goals for expansion and where he thinks the next hot spots will be for professional lacrosse!

CRABCAKE: SRLT Now Has 3000 Acres of Preserved Land and an Upcoming Workshop (July 2019)

Last time, Nina and Sarah said they were close!  Now they nailed it! The Scenic Rivers Land Trust now has more than 3000 acres in Anne Arundel County under a land trust easement!  Congrats!  Is a land trust in your future? Maybe your neighbors?  They are having 2 workshops– July 18 (2-3pm at the Edgewater Library) and August 13 (6-7pm at the Crofton Library)–both are free. Come out and learn what a land trust can do!  They do ask that you reserve a spot just so they know how many to plan for!

Today we speak with Glenn Fueston who is the Executive Director for the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention & Control or GOCCP.  Acronyms and big names aside, this is the office that tracks crime statewide and doles out millions of dollars to help fund the programs that aid victims of crime in Maryland and implement programs that help to bring it down!  While the podcast is fantastic (my mom said to say that), take a look at their website, and in particular their reporting information and statistics–fascinating!

The Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House (E-141)

John sent Tim, unaccompanied, to The Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House in Halethorpe to have a pint or two with Ryan Wagner, Brewery Ambassador. Alone. Without any supervision. To a place with Guinness.

When you think Guinness, you think Extra Stout, right? You’re not wrong, but you need to hear about what the exquisite, new experimental beers coming out of the new Guinness Brewery right near BWI Airport. This brewery has a bar with it’s own two-floor museum of the history of Guinness. Ryan Wagner, takes Tim out of his comfort zone of Miller Lite to sample the newest offering from the old sod.

Unless you’ve been under a total media blackout over the past few weeks, you have to have noticed that women’s soccer is white-hot right now. So who better to talk to right now than local soccer maven Sarah Sample?

Sarah is one of the pros behind Seleção Futebol, a soccer program for girls by women. So what do they promise to do for young women with dreams of the pitch? “We’re gonna make you better.” That’s it in a nutshell. Today, Tim sits down with Sarah to talk about her philosophy about coaching and how their program produces strong-minded players who have the confidence to make split-second decisions both on and off the field.
