Bay Area Community Church, A Different Experience (E-134)

This week, John sits down with Pastors Greg St. Cyr and Pat Linnell to talk about the Bay Area Community Church. It’s one of the largest in the area. And, as we learned, nothing quite like old-school church.

Join us on this episode (one of John’s favorites to date) and hear all about a different kind of church.

Play Ball With the 2019 Bowie Baysox (E-133)

It’s opening day for the Orioles! That means that opening day for their AA minor league affiliate, the Bowie Baysox, is right around the corner!

We sat down with Brian Shallcross (the GM), and Phil Wrye (the Asst. GM) to talk a little baseball in advance of opening day on April 11th.

Just how do you run a baseball team? How interwoven are the Baysox and the Orioles? Player development and fan experiences were all discussed.  Check out all the fantastic promotions going on this season and listen to a fantastic memory share by Phil from his 20+ years with the team!

Have a listen as we talk to the men that make it all work! And then go pick up some tickets.

Play Ball!

Getting proud with Annapolis Pride (E-132)

It’s a breath of fresh air to see Annapolis becoming more accepting of everyone!  Sure we have some work to do, but this is a big step.

Annapolis Pride!  It’s a relatively new organization that has burst on the scene in a big way. Last year they had a Pride March for the LBGTQ+ community. And this year there will be a Pride Parade and Festival in Annapolis.  Look for a Pride Night at the Bowie Baysox and many more events and gatherings.

We’re proud (pardon the pun) to have the Annapolis Pride magnet on the back of our car and to support ALL of our neighbors.

Have a listen as we talk to the man behind the organization– Jeremy Browning!

CRABCAKE: 7th Annual Annapolis Film Festival 2019 (March 2019)

This is a long crabcake. But well worth it!

It happens every year…well at least for the past seven years! The Annapolis Film Festival is bringing more than 70 films to Annapolis March 21st to 24th and we sat down with the founders once again to see what was in store for their seventh go around of this fantastic event that has brought millions to the area economy!

Patti White and Lee Anderson are two of the busiest women in town. They operate FILMSTERS,  full fledged production company from their West Annapolis office, the wildly successful summer camp, and in their spare time…the Annapolis Film Festival which is expected to draw nearly 20,000 to Annapolis over a 4 day period.

We talk about last year’s resounding success, the improvements and changes for this year. And a little bit about some of the films you can expect to see.  Sit back, and enjoy while we talk movie to Lee Anderson and Patti White!

And then we headed across the Severn River to speak with the artist behind the graphics for the film festival and specifically about this year’s tribute to those we lost in the Capital-Gazette shootings in June 2018.

And when you are done–go buy your passes and mark your calendars for the Annapolis Film Festival 2019!

CRABCAKE: A Shamrock Stroll, a Hooley, a Parade and Shamrockin’ the Dock (March 2019)

This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it’s a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20….or longer in this case, because..well…beer! In any event, enjoy your Maryland Crabcake!

Today, we continue our monthly series (no set schedule other than monthly) about beer.  We have a huge distributer of beer right here in Annapolis–Katcef Brothers Inc. and they have a ton of experts on hand to de-mystify beer for us.  Now, full disclosure–I like beer! I like beer a lot!  But, I am not a beer snob and a Bud Light will suit me just fine.

This month, it is all about St. Paddy’s Day!  We do things a bit differently in Annapolis so we celebrate the holiday a week early!  Joining us today is Mike LeViseur from Katcef Brothers which will be providing the libations for the weekend, and John O’Leary who is the brainchild of the Annapolis St. Patrick’s Day Parade and all the events that have sprung from it!

Have a listen and make sure you turn out on March 9th and 10th for the Annapolis St. Patrick’s Weekend!
