CRABCAKE: Soren Baker..Author of “The History of Gangster Rap” (December 2018)

This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it’s a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20….or however long Tim wants to avoid his family.

The History of Gangster Rap is a deep dive by Gambrills native and Hip-Hop journalist, Soren Baker, into one of the most fascinating subgenres of any music category to date. Sixteen detailed chapters, organized chronologically, examine the evolution of gangster rap, its main players, and the culture that created this revolutionary music. From still-swirling conspiracy theories about the murders of Biggie and Tupac to the release of the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, the era of gangster rap is one that fascinates music junkies and remains at the forefront of pop culture. Filled with interviews with key players such as Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, and dozens more, as well as sidebars, breakout bios of notorious characters, lists, charts, and more, The History of Gangster Rap is the be-all-end-all book that contextualizes the importance of gangster rap as a cultural phenomenon.

CRABCAKE: Lissie in a WRNR presentation this weekend at Rams Head On Stage

This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it’s a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20. In any event, enjoy your Maryland Crabcake!

She’s not here that often, so that is reason enough to go see Lissie this weekend (Saturday) in a rare matinee show that is ALL AGES.

I got turned onto Lissie while working at WRNR and have been a fan ever since. She is bold, forges her own way and when life hands her lemons–she makes another killer album.

Here is a chat with Lissie in advance of her show. My suggestion–get tickets, you will not be disappointed!

This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it’s a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20. In any event, enjoy your Maryland Crabcake!

There is nothing this guy can’t do. SuperDad. SuperHusband. SuperAmerican and an all-star performer. Stephen Kellogg will return to the Rams Head On Stage on December 28th to support his latest album, Objects in the Mirror.

He called us on his birthday and we chatted about the album, the show, a lot about his family and how he feels the need to support the military, a cure for children’s cancer and human trafficking.  After a Ted talk, a book, and an Amazon movie made about him, I don’t know how he keeps grounded…but somehow he does!  Check it out and go see Stephen Kellogg on the 28th of December!
