Election 2018: Candidate Interviews (Primary — June 26, 2018)

As we tried to figure out how to best handle the 2018 Elections, we realized that there were entirely too many races and candidates (and way too few of us) to produce, forums, debates, and individual interviews as we had for last year’s Annapolis City elections.

So, what we decided was to look at specific races that we felt were critical, hotly contested, or just interesting to us and gave each candidate the opportunity to “pitch” us for 10 minutes. The premise was “I am a new voter, why do I vote for you?”

They could use the 10 minutes as they saw fit and could stop at any time. At the 10 minute mark–we hung up.  If you have not had a chance to hear from these candidates, please take a listen!

We reached out to every candidate multiple times and asked for 15 minutes of their time. If we do not have a recording, it is because they were non-responsive. If they contact us after publication, we will update this posting. We will be re-grouping and figuring out a plan for the general election in November. Stay tuned!

Annapolis Mayor-Elect Gavin Buckley’s First Interview (E-65)

Just about 16 hours after the polls closed, Annapolis Mayor-Elect Gavin Buckley spoke with the Maryland Crabs about his campaign, his win, and his expectations for the next four years.

What does he think of City employees? How does he feel about historic preservation? What type of administration can we expect from the Aussie?  And did we really almost lose the campaign for him?

Coming up….former County Executive John R. Leopold, Baltimore County Executive and Gubernatorial Candidate Kevin Kamenetz,  Maryland State Delegate Nic Kipke (if he will ever return my email), Heather Mizeur, Delegate Herb McMillan, outgoing Mayor Michael Pantelides, and a few more surprises!

And hey, check out the Eye On Annapolis Daily News Brief!  10 minutes every day at noon will bring you up to speed on all the LOCAL issues, sports, weather, events and opinions in Annapolis and  Anne Arundel County.  Here’s your link… http://bit.ly/EOA-DNB

Mike Pantelides and Gavin Buckley Debate for the Office of Mayor of Annapolis (E-62)

On Sunday, October 15, 2017, Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides and businessman Gavin Buckley squared off in a debate sponsored by us and Eye On Annapolis (half of us) in front of about 250 people at the Rams Head On Stage. The debate was split in two halves–the first half was moderated by Dr. Dan Nataf from AACC’s Center for the Study of Local Issues; and the second half was questions submitted to the candidates from the audience.

Sit back, relax and enjoy this extra long episode.

Coming up….former County Executive John R. Leopold, Baltimore County Executive and Gubernatorial Candidate Kevin Kamenetz, Baltimore City Police Commissioner Kevin Davis, Maryland State Delegate Nic Kipke (if he will ever return my email), Heather Mizeur, Dr. Dan Nataf with insight to the Annual Survey of Local Issues, and a few more surprises!

Primary Election Night at the Blackwall Hitch with Special Guests (E-57)

The Maryland Crabs took over the Wine Room at the Blackwall Hitch in the heart of Eastport during Primary Election Night to wait out the results along with wide-ranging cast of political players and observers to wait out the results.
