Speaker Michael Busch – Maryland in a Trump World…and More! (E-16)

Michael Busch is the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates and is one of the longest serving Delegates and has been the Speaker for the past 13 years.  The man knows Maryland!

This week the Crabs go on the road and talk to Speaker Busch in the Speaker’s Lounge in the Annapolis State House. As always, we have no set agenda and the conversation ran from “what the hell does a Trump presidency mean for Maryland?” to gerrymandering, to the rising stars in Maryland politics, and exactly why Delegate Herb McMillan was banned from the Governor’s Mansion. Check it out and see what one of Maryland’s top politicos has to say on The Maryland Crabs!

Where Do The Locals REALLY Go? (E-12)

mdcrabs_250x250

The elections are behind us and we figured we needed to lighten things up a bit and not delve too deeply into anything. So over lunch at Rocco’s Pizza we decided to talk about where the locals go.  No, don’t worry. It’s not one of those pay to play top lists of advertisers–we have none! We kind of ramble on (apologies in advance–we’re kinda stunned by the election too), but talk about the hidden gems in our area.

Hey, have you listened to any of our previous episodes? You really should. They could change your life. Granted, your life would have to be pretty bad. But still, we have some gems you will want to check out!

Or maybe go back and see how we did with our election predictions and prognostications.

Oh hell…just go back and listen to the ones you have not heard!  And PLEASE be sure to tell your friends about us!

The Maryland Crabs: Blame the Media? An Hour with P. Kenneth Burns (E-8)

mdcrabs_250x250

There aren’t many people a politician will not speak with. P. Kenneth Burns, a reporter for WYRP is one of them. We have him fresh off his dustup with Baltimore Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings Blake.

This time around, Tim, John, and Ken…or Kenny crab about the bull$hit ban, Baltimore politics, national politics, and how the media intersects with all of them. We talk Hogan, Blake, Senator Barb,  a guy to watch — Brandon Scott, and a bunch more.

Get some insight on the political pulse in Maryland with a reporter that has been plying this beat for years!

Hey, did you hear last week’s episode with Walter Vasquez. We crabbed about the growth of the Latino population in the area and the impact it will have on the upcoming local elections. We also figured out how that community really feels about the Crystal Spring development in Annapolis.

Did you get a chance to listen to Sean O’Neill talking about the business climate in Annapolis? Or the one where we crab about the incompetence of HACA, parking in Annapolis, and the overreach of the Historic Preservation Commission? Check them out!

TWITTER MENTIONS:

Nourishment this week was provided post interview, by the Annapolis Smokehouse and Tavern — a place you need to go to if you have not been. House-made potatoe chips are on point and horrible bad for you; but you only live once!

The Maryland Crabs: Crime in Annapolis, A Different Point of View (E3)

mdcrabs_250x250Last week, we rambled on about the increase in crime in Annapolis, Maryland. If you missed the episode, give it a listen and this one will make more sense.

In this episode of The Maryland Crabs, John and Tim sit down to talk to Robert Eades who is a community activist, a product of public housing in Annapolis, and has some solid ideas on how to get control of the crime problem in the City. He is a fixture at City Hall where they only give him 3 minutes to speak. We gave him an hour!

We hear about rival drug dealers from other cities making Annapolis their home base, the slow decimation of any social programs that enabled people to move up from public housing, to the best way the police can easily make the biggest difference.

In this episode, Eades names names and pulls no punches.

Our discussion of this will continue next week when we speak with a resident that is not in public housing, but lives on the fringe of it and attempts to raise a family while dodging bullets.
