CRABCAKE: Satchel Kornfeld of MoCo Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association (May 2019)

This is a Crabcake from The Maryland Crabs! What is a Crabcake? Well, it’s a very short snippet of something you need to know. It might be 5 minutes long..or it might be 20. In any event, enjoy your Maryland Crabcake!

Finally. We meet up with Satchel Kornfeld, a Maryland Crabs fan who has wanted to come on the show for a long time. And if only Tim would check emails on a regular basis, we would have had him on a long time ago! Satchel is a Recruitment Officer for the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association and is involved in the Maryland State Firemen’s Association. He came out to have a beer and tell us all about firefighter stuff. We had a good time!

“Crownsville Hospital: From Lunacy to Legacy” (E-136)

This week, John and Tim sit down with producer and director, R. Todd Stevens, creator of “Crownsville Hospital: From Lunacy to Legacy” , a feature-length documentary film highlighting the history of the Crownsville State Mental Hospital in Crownsville, MD. Drawing on many documentary works such as “The Thin Blue Line” and “Night and Fog” for inspiration, the film utilizes archival footage, animation and original music to unfold the story and evoke a mood.

Both exterior and interior present-day footage and photos have been combined with exterior/interior archival footage and photos to capture the changes to the hospital through its 96-year lifespan. In addition, interviews with historians and former hospital workers as well as patients help to round out the experience.

Mike Pantelides…Rested and Ready! (E-135)

It’s been almost a year and a half since he left the Mayor’s Office, but Mike Pantelides is back with The Maryland Crabs and he has a lot to say about the last election, his term as mayor, and the current city administration. Is he going to run for office again in the city or does he have designs on higher office? John and Tim tactlessly badger him about his future plans.
